24 adult cats in a Latin square; 15-day periods without washouts. Foods with 7%, 14% or 28% rice protein concentrate. Comparator: Food without rice protein concentrate.

Protein and several other digestibility measures increased with inclusion. Faecal scores increased; faecal output and fat digestibility did not differ significantly.

The authors considered rice protein concentrate an acceptable, digestible protein source.

Concentrated rice protein is not whole rice. Ingredient digestibility alone does not establish lifelong nutritional adequacy or suitability for cats with disease.
